Posting to this site will be a little bit light over the next month. I will cover the debates and the election and then slow way down. I'm not tired of it, far from it, I just have a big project on the horizon.
I am deep into the writing and publication of my first fiction book. I am really enjoying the process and so far it is shaping up to be a real page turner. I have always been a fan of detective fiction and have read many fantastic authors. What I have loved most of all is the detective characters; Roger Simon's Moses Wine character is a wonderful example, as is Robert Parker's Spenser; even Agatha Christies Poirot intrigues me. Of course no list would be complete without groveling before the shrine of Raymond Chandler. Each of these writers and characters are unique and provide wonderful insight into the complexities of human nature. They also are very entertaining to read.
Those who know me won't be surprised by this but I recently purchased every book by Jonathan Gash, a British detective writer (20 something volumes). I devored every book he has written over a 3 week period. He is a great writer and these were absolutely incredible books with vivid characters. It was just delightful reading.
The bar is very high for this type of fiction and new writers must be very good to find a willing publisher. No one was any more shocked than I was when my project was greenlighted by a new contact I made.
Right now I am writing more carefully than I ever have and thinking through my plot. I am taking time to consider words and how to make them flow and connect. Please don't look at some of the rough posts on this site and think that it reflects the quality of my writing. This site is primarily to get my thoughts about current events quickly into print. I often cringe when I read what I've written later. I know it is not very good, I never take the time to carefully edit it. If I did that most of these posts would never be produced.
This book project however, is a labor of love. I am polishing the dialogue, considering every phrase, twisting the plot and in general endeavoring to create another living breathing detective hero named, D**** G*****. I could not be more happy.
This site is not going away, nor am I, but in less than 6 months I have produced over 350 posts which total over 400 pages of writing. We are pushing 50,000 hits, which is really not bad for a new political site. I have developed a small audience of core readers. I thank every one of you for your thoughts, even when I disagreed with you, and your encouragement. All of you have taught me about the issues and the world. Some of you might even see some of your influence showing up in my book.
My Warmest Regards,
Mahatma P. Gorman
Way to go Bro! Best of luck with the book!!

Good luck, Mahatma. I'll miss your regular posting but I support any pursuit of a worthwhile dream.
I've read your posts enough to know that you're a good writer, typos of a quick posting notwithstanding. I'm not at all surprised that you've been picked up by a publisher.
Best regards...

I never cheated an honest man, only rascals. They wanted something for
nothing. I gave them nothing for something.
